(Chatsworth, Ga.) — Murray Medical Center’s Chaplain Lorena Bowers is expanding the hospital’s ministry work. With the help of the spiritual care team, Bowers created an Angel Cart, which is a special cart for families that are sitting in vigil at the bedside of a loved one who is passing away.
The Angel Cart includes a CD player with various types of music available, a clock, charging stations for computers and phones, food, water, coffee, pillows, blankets, pens and paper, personal care kits, Gideon Bibles, word searches, and crayons and coloring books for children. Also, included in the cart is materials on bereavement and how to cope with loss and information on local funeral homes are available.
“Families matter,” said Bowers. “It’s not only our patients for whom we care. We wish to provide physical, emotional, and spiritual care to all who walk through the hospital doors, and I know that the Angel Cart will assist in that.”
