(Chatsworth, Ga.) — Murray Medical Center, a member of Adventist Health System, has received the Supply Chain Excellence Award from Premier Inc., a leading healthcare improvement company, for its high-value purchasing practices.
“Murray Medical Center is continuously advancing their supply purchasing strategies and collaborating to share best practices that support Premier alliance members,” said Durral R. Gilbert, president of supply chain services, Premier. “We are thrilled to present them with this honor as they work to provide high-value care in their community.”
One of 14 hospitals and health systems to receive the award this year, Murray Medical Center accepted the award at Premier’s 2017 Breakthroughs Conference and Exhibition in Washington, D.C. on June 29.
To be eligible, each organization had to submit four quarters of calendar 2016 data to Supply Focus, which includes the industry’s largest comparative database of operational and supply chain cost information for acute care hospitals. Winners were identified using four industry standard case-mix-index-adjusted supply expense ratios and a peer grouping methodology to ensure that organizations of diverse sizes and complexity were considered equally.
“We are thrilled by the exceptional work that our purchasing and supply chain team is doing,” said Karen Steely, administrator of Murray Medical Center. “This recognition is a testament to their standards of excellence and our commitment to ensuring that Murray Medical Center remains stable and is in the position to thrive for years to come.”
With 40 indicators measuring and trending performance in cost and operations, Supply Focus enables hospitals to compare supply expense performance to that of similar facilities and easily identify improvement opportunities.
