(Chatsworth, Ga.) — Murray Medical Center recently recognized April Powers, RN, with the DAISY Award. This award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s program to recognize the super-human tasks nurses perform every day.
Powers was nominated by a co-worker who said the following: “Over the last ten months, April Powers has made a significant impact on the work environment and nursing culture at Murray Medical Center. April is smart, compassionate, hard-working, and demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with peers and co-workers. She goes above and beyond to ensure that her patients’ needs are met.
“For example, we had a patient that was admitted and stayed in the medical surgical unit for several months. Unfortunately, this patient did not have family or friends, and he did not have any clothes. She brought a large bag of comfortable clothes for this patient to wear. Additionally, she was sensitive to the fact that this patient did not have visitors, and she would spend extra time in his room talking with him. She also purchased and planted flowers for the hospital, so that our patients could enjoy the view from their rooms.
“She always has a positive attitude and she is always willing to participate in community events and after-hours educational opportunities. She is always willing to adjust her schedule or work for others when they have scheduling needs. There are numerous examples to show what a great person April is. Everyone loves her and we are blessed to have April on our team.”
